RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course Overview
The RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course, also sometimes referred to as the Powerboat Level 3 Intermediate Course, is a two day course that aims to teach the skills needed to plan and complete coastal passages during the day, as well as teach new boat handling techniques. The duration of this course consists of two days between the hours of: 09:30 - 17:00.
This course takes place within the Southampton and Solent Areas.
RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course Prerequisites
We require all applicants to be at least 16 years of age and have boat handling experience to the standard of the
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course
with coastal experience on a planning boat. We also recommend that applicants hold a first aid certificate and a VHF/SRC operators certificate before attending this course.
RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course Content
You will be learning how to plan and undertake coastal passages using both traditional navigation techniques and GPS navigation throughout this course. The duration of this two day course will consist of you learning in greater depth about subjects such as: Chartwork, GPS Navigation, Planning Navigation, The Compass Rose, Weather, Tides, Direction, Working With Distance and Position Fixing.
What's Included In The RYA Powerboat Intermediate Course
Included in the price of this course are the following: The two days of course content listed above, tea and coffee (food is not provided, please provide your own lunch), use of RIBs, fuel, a life jacket loan and an RYA Intermediate Powerboat Certificate upon successful completion of this course.
Please note that wet weather gear is not covered by the cost of the course, but can be hired for £5 a day.
